Complete Hydraulic is chosen to help Indiana family featured on Extreme Makeover Home Edition.
Franklin, IN (Jan 15, 2010) Complete Hydraulic Service & Sales, Inc., a hydraulic equipment distributor and service center in Franklin, Indiana, was recently chosen by ABC’s reality show Extreme Makeover Home Edition to supply products for a new home built for the Cowen family from Bunker Hill, Indiana.
Factory workers, Andy and Heather Cowan, struggled to support their four children as they fought to keep their family together in their mold infested home, that had an impact on their daughter Kori’s health who is battling a congenital blood disease.
Between the 17 operations and multiple monthly hospital visits in the last several years, Kori formed a friendship with a girl who was battling cancer, and has raised over $35,000 on her own for the American Cancer Society in honor of her friend.
In October 2009, Complete Hydraulic was contacted by producers from the show announcing they wanted to use a long list of Complete Hydraulic products to fill an 800 square-feet, three-car garage attached to the new home and built with Andy in mind.
“I got a call on a Sunday, asking if we would be interested participating. The next day we were in the garage setting up Andy’s new equipment,” explained Randy Brown, Chairman and CEO of Complete Hydraulic.
As part of a ministry at his church, Andy works on vehicles doing repairs for families that can’t afford the extra unexpected expense and helping them get back on the road, and their life in the right direction.
Equipment brought by CHSSI included a 4 post vehicle lift, 2 rolling bridge jacks, motorcycle lift, air compressor, shop press, floor jack, oil drain, transmission jack, cherry picker, jack stand, and additional shop equipment.
CHSSI sent five employees to deliver and setup the equipment, including Steve Douglas, Technical Service Manager at CHSSI. “The atmosphere was exciting, thousands of people working together…the energy was amazing. We had about 10 guys that helped us move the equipment by hand, and there was always volunteers close by to make sure we had everything we needed to get the job done,” Douglas remembers.
Complete Hydraulic wanted to give Andy a gift specifically from the company and added a heavy duty sandblast cabinet to Andy’s list of new garage toys.
On the episode, which aired in January 2010, the family ran into the garage during the revealing of their new home, Andy was the first through the door exclaiming, “Check this out…I got a lift!” The family walked around the garage checking out the equipment most of which was donated from Ford, one of the shows major sponsors. “This garage has everything anybody could want in their own garage…it was a dream come true! I always wanted my own shop” Andy explained.
